
Green Beans with Bacon
A savory dish combining tender green beans with crispy bacon and flavorful seasonings.
Ingredients
- 300g green beans
- 80g bacon or prosciutto, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
- Salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Trim the green beans, blanch them in boiling water for 4-5 minutes, and then plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon or prosciutto and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, toss to combine, and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Stir in the butter, grated Parmesan, and marjoram.
- Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg to taste. Return the bacon to the skillet, stir to combine, and cook for another minute until everything is heated through.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
