Green Beans with Bacon

A savory dish combining tender green beans with crispy bacon and flavorful seasonings.

Ingredients

  • 300g green beans
  • 80g bacon or prosciutto, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • Salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Trim the green beans, blanch them in boiling water for 4-5 minutes, and then plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon or prosciutto and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, toss to combine, and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Stir in the butter, grated Parmesan, and marjoram.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg to taste. Return the bacon to the skillet, stir to combine, and cook for another minute until everything is heated through.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
