Orange Cake

A moist and flavorful orange cake topped with a sweet white chocolate icing and coconut flakes.

Ingredients

Cake Ingredients

  • 250g butter
  • 200g powdered sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 orange
  • 250g flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Icing Ingredients

  • 50g powdered sugar
  • 100g white chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. Juice the orange and set aside for later. Grate the orange zest and mix with the flour and baking powder.
  2. Beat the butter with a mixer until smooth, gradually adding powdered sugar, and continue to beat until fluffy (about 7 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with orange juice, until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool before icing.
  5. For the icing, heat 50ml of orange juice in a small saucepan, add the powdered sugar, and remove from the heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  6. Add the white chocolate, broken into pieces, and stir until melted and smooth. Spread the icing over the cooled cake and sprinkle with coconut flakes.
