
Walnut Mazurek
A traditional Polish dessert with a crunchy base and a rich walnut topping.
Ingredients
Dough Ingredients
- 1.5 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 200g butter
- 1 egg
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Filling Ingredients
- 5 egg whites
- 1 glass + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 200g ground walnuts
- 250g raspberry jam
Instructions
- Use the dough ingredients to knead the dough. Bake it until it turns light golden while it is still hot.
- Spread the raspberry jam on top of the baked dough.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff, then add the powdered sugar and ground walnuts, mixing until well combined.
- Spread the walnut mixture over the jam layer.
- Bake the assembled mazurek until the top is set and lightly golden.
